An inmate who authorities say escaped from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office’s Honor Farm is back behind bars.
Sheriff’s Officials say custody staff discovered Wednesday night that Timothy Powers, 20, had removed his ankle monitor and was missing. They believe he walked away from the facility sometime between 9 p.m. and 10:40 p.m.
Officials say Powers was on active probation for theft-related charges and was not considered a threat to the public.
Powers was only on the run for about 12 hours before deputies stopped a vehicle in San Miguel believed to be associated with the inmate, officials say.
Powers was in the front passenger seat, according to authorities, and arrested shortly before 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The driver, identified as Claudia Penaloza, 24, of San Simeon, was also taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy.
Both were booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
