Pursuit ends with drug-related arrests in Santa Barbara

Posted

Santa Barbara police arrested five people on Wednesday morning after a vehicle stop led to a car chase.

Police say officers had been watching a home on the 800 block of Anapamu Street after several complaints about suspected drug dealing at that location and had a search warrant to stop a green pickup truck associated with the home.

Officers reportedly stopped the truck at Highway 101 and Milpas Street, but as detectives tried to detain the three people inside, the driver sped off.

A few minutes later, police say the pickup crashed into a parked tow truck at De La Guerra and Nopal streets, causing minor damage to both vehicles. The pickup stopped at De La Guerra and Vine.

Chavez was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and heroin for sale and conspiracy.

Moran was arrested on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia and a felony probation warrant.

Morales was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and heroin for sale, conspiracy, evading, and assault on an officer.

Police say they found one ounce of heroin and about a half-pound of methamphetamine in the truck. Later, they searched the home on Anapamu Street and arrested two more people.
