UPDATE (4:50 p.m.) – According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the fire consisted of four separate fires that started along the side of the road and burned less than an acre.

A brush fire that broke out Friday afternoon prompted authorities to shut down Highway 154.
The fire was first reported at about 3:45 p.m. near Windy Gap.
The highway closure extends from Cathedral Oaks Road to Painted Cave Road. Drivers should use Highway 101 as a detour.
