The Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network’s facility seems to have been spared from the flames that ripped through a portion of Goleta overnight.
The facility posted on Facebook Friday night saying the Holiday Fire had broken out on Holiday Hill near the center, which is located on the 1400 block of N. Fairview Avenue.
By Saturday morning, the fire was said to only be 5 percent contained although the flames had died down significantly.
Trained staff and volunteers reportedly helped to evacuate many of the center’s animals Friday night and the rest of the animals and some supplies were being taken out the following morning.
The care network says supplies and donations are needed in order for them to set up their new base at the Humane Society.
Volunteers are also being sought to help transport animals.
The center says, at last check, the facility was still standing and the fire only burned around the edges.
