President Donald Trump on Monday announced his choice to fill the seat of retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy is Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Kavanaugh, 53, is a conservative appeals court judge.
The president’s decision could shape the nation’s highest court for years to come. It is also his second nomination since becoming president.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said they will hold a confirmation vote this fall.
