Streets in downtown San Luis Obispo will be closed down Monday night in order to install Hotel Serra’s new stainless steel rooftop swimming pool.
All lanes on Marsh Street between Garden Street and Broad Street will be completely closed down from 11 p.m to 2 a.m.
A giant crane will be in the area to lift and put the new pool onto the fourth floor. This will be first rooftop pool in San Luis Obispo, and will be tiled as part of an elegant pool deck with a bar and cabanas. When filled with water the pool will weight 215,000 pounds.
Hotel Serra sits in the former site of SLO Brew. It is 95,000 square feet and designed towards LEED Silver environmental guidelines. The hotel has 65 rooms, a restaurant, spa, gym and the rooftop pool and bar. It is anticipated to open early 2019.
