A Goleta woman is facing charges after police in Santa Cruz County say she was caught driving a stolen vehicle with a dead owl inside. She’s also accused of using credit cards that belong to the owner of the vehicle.

The Scotts Valley Police Department posted on Facebook Saturday morning that a driver was pulled over due to having different license plates on the front and back of the vehicle they were driving.

Officers say after checking the vehicle’s registration, they found it had been stolen out of Santa Barbara earlier that day.

Police say credit cards left in the vehicle at the time it was taken had been used and were located inside during the traffic stop along with other stolen property and a dead owl.

Officers did not expand on why there was a dead owl in the vehicle, only saying, "Fact is often stranger than fiction."

Christen Aceves was arrested and booked on charges of possessing a stolen vehicle, fraudulent use of a credit card and possession of a deceased bird of prey.
