San Luis Obispo County officials unanimously selected the next planning director as Trevor Keith in a 5 to 0 vote Tuesday afternoon.
"Even with the diversity of opinion on the Board, Trevor has earned the confidence of all five of us," said John Peschong, the Board of Supervisors chair and District 1 Supervisor for the County of San Luis Obispo. "Trevor’s professionalism, depth of experience, and knowledge of this community made him the obvious choice. We are all looking forward to the leadership he brings to this critical role in the county."
The planning director will oversee about 100 county employees while reporting directly to the county administrative officer. The planning director also has a budget of more than $19 million.
Keith has been a county employee for about 11 years, most recently has a division manager for the administrative office. The county says Keith has worked with initiatives such as Stepping Up, Jail Medical, and planning for the Diablo closure, and served on PG&E’s Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel.
He also has worked directly with energy, long-range planning, housing and finance within the county sector.
Keith’s employment contract will go before the board for final approval on Aug. 7.
