SpaceX rocket launch from Vandenberg AFB postponed until next week

The launch of the seventh Iridium NEXT mission from Vandenberg Air Force Base has been postponed to next week. 

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will carry 10 Iridium NEXT satellites into orbit on July 25, according to the satellite communications company.

The launch was originally scheduled for Friday, July 20. 

On May 22, five Iridium NEXT satellites were launched. It was the sixth Iridium launch since Jan. 2017 when the company began a campaign to replace its entire network of communication satellites with 75 new satellites. 

Iridium 7 will bring the total number of Iridium NEXT satellites in space to 65. 

Next Wednesday’s launch is scheduled for approximately 4:39 a.m.
