Foods Co. stores will no longer accept Visa credit cards starting August 14.
Foods Co. operates 21 stores across California, including stores in Santa Maria and Lompoc. The chain is not to be confused with Food4Less or other unrelated brands.
CNBC reports Foods Co.’s parent company Kroger and Visa are in a dispute over rates and fees. Kroger has accused Visa of charging higher than average rates for credit card payments. As a response, Kroger will stop accepting Visa credit cards at the Foods Co. chain. Visa debit cards and other major credit cards will still be accepted.
As of now, no other Kroger brands will be affected.
