Santa Maria Firefighters responded to reports of a fire at the Fallas Discount Store in Santa Maria.
Crews responded to a structure fire on Town Center West Road at approximately 10:17 p.m. Tuesday.
Fire officials say the fire broke out on the second floor of the building, and when they arrived the fire was almost extinguished due to the sprinkler system turning on.
Firefighters stayed on scene for nearly an hour mopping up and making sure all hot spots were out.
The building has suffered water and smoke damage to the second and first floors.
An arson investigation is underway as officials try to determine the cause of the fire.
