A new wine and beer festival is coming to the Central Coast.

The quiet town along the north coast, famous for its population size of just 18, is getting ready to transform.

“We’re going to explode the population of downtown Harmony here and do a wine festival, beer festival to help a small charity up here that’s doing great things for little, tiny babies,” said Chuck Mulligan with Harmony Cellars.

In keeping with the population number, 18 wine and beer vendors will line the main road through Harmony this Saturday for the inaugural Harmony Wine & Beer Festival.

All of the proceeds will be given to the Cambria-based non-profit Infant Essentials.

“All of it is going to be going to the things that babies really need,” said Margie Perez-Sesser with Infant Essentials.

The charity provides basic, but often expensive baby supplies to homeless and very-low income families on the Central Coast.

“There are so many families right now that are going through a lot of economic crisis but we feel that babies should never have to do without,” Perez-Sesser said.

Your ticket to the festival will help pay for diapers, formula, clothing and car seats, among other requested items for babies.

A small group of volunteers who run the non-profit is then able to give those items to San Luis Obispo County families in need.

“This fundraiser is going to provide the funds to serve even more families,” she said.

In addition to great drinks at Saturday’s event, there will be live music in the gazebo, food vendors and of course, Harmony Valley Creamery will be scooping ice cream.

“You can make a great afternoon hanging out in Harmony,” Mulligan said. “Put a little Harmony in your life!”

Tickets to the festival are $55 and can be purchased on the festival’s website.
