Cuesta College held its student scholarship reception Friday afternoon.
Students were awarded thousands of dollars to pursue their education, such as Joseph Yawe.
Yawe is one student who received seven scholarships to help him study nursing in the fall.
"For me, if I have to work and support family and go to school full-time, it is a daunting task so if (there’s) any help I can get, that’s why I applied to the scholarships," Yawe said. "Because scholarships are available for the students and it’s good for us to apply and get them."
Cuesta College says the college foundation is awarding more money and more scholarships to more students than ever before.
