Possible road restrictions around Buena Vista Park

Posted

Santa Maria City Council will discuss a resolution that would put two-hour parking zones along streets near Buena Vista Park at their meeting Tuesday night.

If this resolution gets approved at the city council meeting, signs will go up Wednesday with the new restrictions.

These new rules are:

  • Limited parking on the 300 Block of West Morrison Ave next to the park.
  • People can only park for two hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. This does not mean people who drive to the park can only stay at the park for two hours, but the must move their cars to another spot after their time expires.
  • No stopping zones on West Morrison Ave.

The Director of Public Works Steve Kahn said the restrictions would make it easier for street sweepers to clean around the park.

"We’ve been looking at parking around this park for quite some time and I’ve been working on solutions with my staff and other department staff," Kahn said. "I think this is a reasonable solution and I like the timing of it, the timing being in place right when the park has its grand opening."
