The filing period for non-incumbents for the San Luis Obispo City Council race has been extended.

Residents now have until Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, to file nomination papers for the General Municipal Election.

Per Elections Code Section 10225, the filing period for the office of council member is extended beyond the initial August 10 deadline when one incumbent has announced he or she will not be filing nomination papers.

The filing extension does not apply to the office of mayor.

Any San Luis Obispo resident age 18 or older who is registered to vote, eligible to take the oath of office and, unless otherwise specifically provided, qualified to vote for the office, can file nomination papers. To file, visit the City Clerk’s Office, located in City Hall at 990 Palm Street, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
