Santa Maria Fire Department will be going through "Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting" (ARFF) training this week.
If anyone spots smoke near the airport, it’s most likely firefighters performing this training service at the Santa Maria Airport, for their passengers and crews.
ARFF training is a program that trains firefighters in the most "advanced methods of fighting aircraft fires," according to an ARFF training program at the Denver International Airport.
Santa Maria Fire says this training is one example of all hazard response capabilities.
