Vehicle, home struck by gunfire in Santa Maria, 1 injured

One person was injured when multiple shots were fired at a home and vehicle in Santa Maria Friday night, according to police.

Santa Maria police say at about 10:45 p.m., people in the area of Depot Street and Orchard Avenue reported hearing gunshots.

When officers arrived, they say shell casings were found in the street.

Police discovered the outside of a home there had been hit by gunfire multiple times along with an unoccupied vehicle on the street in front of the house, officials said. 

Five people were in the home at the time of the shooting, according to police. No one was hit by the bullets, but authorities say one person received minor injuries from glass. 

The shooter or shooters reportedly took off in a vehicle, but police say they do not know who is responsible for the shooting at this time and no arrests have been made.
