Central Coast charity prepares for Hurricane Florence outreach

Direct Relief, a charity organization based out of Santa Barbara, is preparing to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence by shipping out supplies and medications for people with chronic medical conditions.

Their shipments are going to be pre-positioned throughout the East Coast, in case health centers in the storm’s predicted path lose road access to the typical distributors they depend on.

We reached out to EMS agencies in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties – so far no paramedics or EMTs will be sent for relief.

Several fire departments on the Central Coast tell us they plan on waiting to see what the storm does before deciding to go.
