Santa Barbara companies send help ahead of Hurricane Florence

Some Santa Barbara companies are sending generators to areas that could be impacted by Hurricane Florence.

Santa Barbara-based ClearPathGPS and Castro’s Cleaning & Restoration will send GPS-equipped generators to hard-hit areas.  Workers say the generators are critical to make sure the power doesn’t go out in hospitals, police stations, or other important buildings.

Castro’s staff is transporting the generators across the country on trailers to get them as close to the Hurricane zone as possible. Once the storm passes, the generators will be taken to areas dealing with power outages. The company anticipates the generators will be in use for at least a month.

The generators are equipped with GPS trackers, which will record data including hours of operation and distance traveled.
