San Luis Obispo County’s first Human Trafficking Summit was Saturday and it focused on bringing awareness and educating people on the Central Coast about the issue.

The Rotary Club of Morro Bay and St. Timothy’s Women’s Guide sponsored the event.

The purpose was to assemble people who know a lot about human trafficking activity in the county and have them share their knowledge with parents, teachers, health providers, faith-based groups and tourism representatives.

The sold-out event was from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and had several guest speakers including Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham, San Luis Obispo District Attorney Dan Dow and keynote speaker Opal Singleton.
