California Highway Patrol dispatchers confirmed Sunday night a car caught on fire on Highway 166, which caused flames to spread to nearby vegetation.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. near Schoolhouse Canyon in New Cuyama.

The Traffic Incident Information Page indicated that traffic was stopped in both directions, but the westbound lane of Highway 166 is now open.

The fire has since been contained. No injuries were reported.
