A new same-day delivery service called Shipt will soon launch in San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria.

The company is working with Target to expand its same-day delivery for the Central Coast.

Customers can choose from more than 55,000 groceries, essentials, home products, electronics, toys, and other items. Participating Target stores will also allow people to buy beer, wine, and spirits. The service is expanding to four new markets: San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Salinas, and Santa Cruz.  According to the company, customers can have products delivered in as little as an hour.

The service will launch in San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria on October 9.

Customers have to pay an annual membership fee of $99, however, the fee is reduced to $49 for new Shipt members in California who sign up before the launch.  Customers can get free, unlimited delivery on orders of more than $35. You must be at least 21 to receive an alcohol delivery, and you’ll be asked to provide ID when the items are delivered.

The service will also create jobs on the Central Coast. The company says it will add 500 new "shoppers" in the area who will be in charge of completing orders. If you’re interested in applying to become a Shipt Shopper, click here.

In other markets nationally, customers are able to buy items from multiple retailers, including Target, CVS, Vons, and Ralph’s. The company plans to expand to include more retailers.
