Dozens turned out for the third annual Dodge for a Cause Dodgeball Tournament at the Avila Bay Athletic Club Friday.
All of the proceeds support Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County.
The organization helps at-risk kids around the county by pairing them with an adult mentor. It started in 1995 and has served more than 2600 kids and their mentors.
“All these teams are out here dip, dodging, donating to help kids that are at-risk, and they navigate tricky situations every day. The money helps us provide ongoing check-ins for those kids and their mentors,” said Jenny Luciano, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County.
It cost $600 per team to enter.
Last year the event raised about $15,000, and the organization is hoping to double that this year.
The trophy is similar to the Stanley Cup because the winner’s names are added to it each year.
