Hundreds of community and business leaders came together in San Luis Obispo Thursday to empower young women and girls.
The San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation and Women’s Legacy Fund hosted the 16th annual Women’s Legacy Fund Luncheon at the Alex Madonna Expo Center. The fund donates to other organizations that advocate for women, including RISE and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
This year’s speaker was Ted Bunch, who said men should stand up to end all forms of violence and discrimination against women.
“People think that a lunch during the day is kind of a lady’s lunch, and it’s not. It’s a change lunch. It’s an impact lunch. It’s a sharing lunch. It’s building a sense of community,” said Heidi McPherson from the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation.
The Community Foundation has given away nearly $35 million in its 20-year history.
