The City of Grover Beach received a grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development for $2.6 million.

The Community Development Block Grant will be used to cover water line replacement, house assistance funding, and a senior center feasibility study. The CDBG funds greatly assist with the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition by providing a number of housing assistance opportunities among other things.

“The City Council is thrilled to be receiving this CDBG funding for these important public improvements and services,” said Mayor John Shoals. “This funding will be used to upgrade existing public infrastructure and support much-needed services that benefit our community.”

The grant will go toward three specific areas, which include $2 million to public improvements, $500,000 to public services and $100,000 to planning and technical assistance.

Grover Beach was one of the only California cities that was given more than $2.5 million this year.
