Crews are still working to get Montecito back to normal after January’s storm.

As rain rolled into the South Coast on Wednesday, the storm reminded people about the January mudslides. Montecito received approximately .3″ of rain on Wednesday.

Many Montecito residents said they still worry about the possibility of future mudslides. Boulders from the January slide still line drainage areas, and Caltrans crews are rebuilding several damaged and destroyed bridges by the end of the year.

Shop owners in the Montecito Village Shopping Center said business is finally picking up after the January mudslides.

“The rain is here, and we’re a little concerned that we might have a few evacuations, but everyone is really positive,” said Diane Meehan, the owner of Dadiana Hair Salon.

The Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management was monitoring this week’s storm and said there was no need for evacuations.
