UPDATE (10/23/18, 3 p.m.) – The California Highway Patrol says the cause of a head-on crash on Highway 227 last Friday has been attributed to DUI.

Nora Murphy, 22, of San Luis Obispo is accused of driving under the influence and crossing into oncoming traffic, hitting two vehicles.

Murphy reportedly suffered moderate injuries. The driver of one of the other vehicles, a 22-year-old man from Santa Maria, suffered major injuries.

(10/19/18) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle collision that sent several people to the hospital Friday night.

Officers said just before 10 p.m., three cars collided at the corner of Highway 227 and Los Ranchos Road.

CHP did not give an update on the condition of the people involved but said debris was spread out over a 100-yard area of the roadway.

Both lanes of Highway 227 are closed. CHP said they will keep the roadway closed while they investigate and clear debris. It is expected to reopen around midnight.
