‘No Party Preference’ voters on the rise

New voter registration numbers paint a picture of voter trends heading into the November 6 election.

In both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, the number of voters with no party preference is on the rise.

In Santa Barbara County, voters with no political preference surpassed the number of registered Republicans in the area.

Out of more than 216,000 registered voters, 91,000 registered as Democrat, 55,000 registered as Republican, and 58,000 have no party preference.

In San Luis Obispo County, the number of registered Republicans outnumber registered Democrats.

Out of more than 172,000 registered voters, 59,000 are Democrat, 60,000 are Republicans, and 42,000 have no party preference.
