UPDATE: Police identify Santa Barbara auto theft suspect

UPDATE:  Police say they now know the identity of the man believed to have stolen a vehicle from the Greyhound station parking lot on Chapala Street in Santa Barbara Oct. 19.

Officials say, due to the public’s help, the suspect has been identified as Shylo Julian Herrera. An arrest warrant has also been issued.

The 24-year-old is believed to be a transient and is from the Delano/Bakersfield area, according to police, who say Herrera is currently on felony probation crimes related to possession of stolen property, auto theft, and first-degree burglary.

Officers said security footage caught a man leaving the Greyhound station parking lot on Chapala Street in a stolen 2004 Lexus.

The man is described as 30-40 years old, Hispanic, with distinct tattoos on his hands, near the corner of his left eye, and on the left side of his neck.
