Caltrans is warning drivers Highway 1 could be closed south of Big Sur later this week.
It comes as a major storm is forecast to hit the Central Coast beginning Wednesday.
Caltrans issued a 48-hour traffic advisory on Monday, alerting drivers it is possible Highway 1 could be closed south of Big Sur. The area is prone to rock slides. Caltrans closed a stretch of Highway 1 last week over the same concerns.
A 24-hour update will be sent out on Tuesday. Caltrans says it will either confirm or cancel the plans for a full closure.
