The Arroyo Grande Valley Kiwanis Club took seniors from various facilities on Wednesday to see a melodrama performance as part of an annual tradition.
The Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville in Oceano has been happening every year for 41 years now. It is a chance for seniors to enjoy a production during the holiday season.
“They love it,” said Arroyo Grande Kiwanis Club Treasurer Laura Sweeney. “In fact, we have some who always say, ‘when are those folks going to come and pick us up and bring us back to the melodrama.'”
One woman at today’s event said she has been going every year since the first melodrama 41 years ago.
