Paso Robles police say one person was killed while trying to stop someone from driving.
Police say the call came in around 10:40 p.m. Friday at Santa Maria Brewing Co., located at 14th and Park. Officers received reports that a vehicle had hit a pedestrian.
Investigators arrived at the scene and determined that several friends of the suspect were trying to stop her from driving. The victim was also attempting to stop the suspect, but was thrown from the vehicle and hit the pavement. The victim suffered major injuries and was hospitalized, but later died from those injuries.
Police say the suspect fled the scene and was located at her home a short time later. Sarah Hale, 21 of Paso Robles, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run.
Hale was booked in San Luis Obispo County Jail and released after posting bail.
Police say the victim died after Hale had been released from jail.
The victim was not identified, but police say it was a male who died.
The investigation is ongoing.
