The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office has confirmed that firefighters responded to the county jail Friday night because of a vault fire.
The fire was reported at approximately 5:45 p.m. in the Northwest Wing of the jail.
60 inmates were moved to another portion of the jail out of safety concerns.
Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire but inmates are being kept in the separate area until the wing is declared safe.
Officials have not given details on how the fire started. No one was injured.
