Lompoc city officials issued its first commercial cannabis certificate of occupancy Friday.
David McFarlane now has the permits and permission to open a dispensary at 436 West Ocean Avenue as soon as he chooses.
As of January 11, the city issued ten commercial cannabis use licenses with another 16 pending. City officials do not know when the next certificate of occupancy will be issued for a cannabis business.
Both a license and certificate of occupancy is required for a business to operate within city limits.
Commercial cannabis use license applications have been available to the public since March 1, 2018.
