The 40 Prado warming center will open Saturday and Sunday because of rain.

Client check-in starts at 6:30 p.m. and the shelter closes at 7:30 a.m. 40 Prado said if anyone needs regular day center services, those services start at 8 a.m.

Anyone who needs shelter can stop by anytime during the day, but if someone leaves they can’t return that night.

Overnight guests will get a safe and dry place to sleep and a hot meal.

40 Prado officials said pets are allowed at the warming shelter.

The warming center is also asking for several donations like:

  • Large trash bags
  • Disposable plates
  • Bowls, cups and utensils
  • Breakfast bars
  • Coffee, tea, creamer and sugar
  • Large backpacks
  • New socks and warm gloves
  • Rain gear, ponchos, umbrellas

Donations can be dropped off at 40 Prado Road in San Luis Obispo.
