UPDATE (2:40 p.m.) – As of 2 p.m., the California Highway Patrol was escorting traffic over the Grapevine at 25 miles per hour.

(1:30 p.m.) – The Grapevine has been closed because of heavy snow.
Caltrans says the section of Interstate 5 from Parker Rd. in Castaic to Grapevine Rd. in Kern County will be closed until further notice.
Crews are reportedly plowing and sanding the roadway in preparation for its reopening.
Caltrans warns that Highway 101 through the Central Coast may experience heavier-than-usual traffic because of this closure.
