The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is warning people to secure their belongings after two car burglaries were reported at a popular trailhead.
The Sheriff’s Office received two reports Tuesday of cars being burglarized near Reservoir Canyon.
Sheriff’s Spokesperson Tony Cipolla says it appears the windows of the cars were broken. He says property loss was estimated at $400 in the first vehicle and $800 in the other.
The Sheriff’s Office says the best advice is to always keep your valuables out of sight.
If possible, lock important belongings in the trunk of your car. If a criminal can’t see it, they’re less likely to try to break in and steal it.
