As the weather warms up, the crowds will return to Pismo Beach. This year they will face even more stringent regulations on where and when to smoke.
The new rules, added to the city’s existing smoking ban, take effect on Thursday.
The ban now includes outdoor dining patios and several major sidewalks around town. It also extends to bus stops, unenclosed workplaces, areas in front of ATM’s and other services areas and entryways.
Smoking cannabis products and vaping are part of the new regulations.
First time offenders will face a $250 fine. For a second offense, the fine doubles to $500.
