Police say there has been an increase in thefts from vehicles in San Luis Obispo.

San Luis Obispo police announced this week that there was a 17 percent increase in the thefts from February to March of this year.

Police say there were 27 thefts from vehicles in all of March.

Of those, 16 of the vehicles were unlocked.

In five cases, the thieves smashed the windows of the vehicle.

In six cases, items were taken from truck beds.

Officers say this is a good reminder to make sure you don’t leave valuables in your vehicle and to make sure your vehicle is locked.
