A memorial and auction were held Friday night for a girl who died in a tragic car accident in January of 2017.
Shelby Cora Sudbrink was just 17-years-old when she passed away.
To honor her memory, the Shelby Sudbrink Memorial Scholarship Foundation was formed.
The mission is to award one scholarship per year to a graduating female athlete.
The recipient will receive $1,212.12 for up to eight terms. That totals approximately $9,700.
“We are her parents, but Shelby was a part of Templeton, and in this scholarship Shelby is not here with us anymore physically, but this money is going towards these wonderful girls and their education and they’re taking a little bit of Shelby with them,” said Emily and Michael Sudbrink, Shelby’s parents.
Karly Dumont was this year’s scholarship winner. She’s graduating from Templeton High School and hopes to attend Fresno State University.
