U.S. News and World Report recently released its list of the best high schools across the nation and in California, and some Central Coast schools found themselves fairly high up the list.
Overall, the Central Coast’s rankings varied greatly.
The report ranks the best public high schools based on factors, including college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rates.
A total of 2,494 public high schools were ranked in California.
- San Luis Obispo High School ranked number 213 in California.
- Orcutt Academy ranked number 223.
- Dos Pueblos Senior High School ranked number 240.
- Paso Robles High School ranked number 482.
- Arroyo Grande High School ranked number 536.
- Morro Bay High School ranked number 649.
- Santa Barbara Senior High School ranked number 697.
- San Marcos Senior High School ranked number 718.
- Nipomo High School ranked number 740.
- Cabrillo High School ranked number 786.
- Pioneer Valley High School ranked number 896.
- Central Coast New Tech High ranked number 918.
- Santa Maria High School ranked number 996.
- Lompoc High School ranked number 1,030.
- Ernest Righetti High School ranked number, 1,140.
