Finally a more typical spring pattern emerges with night and morning coastal clouds with afternoon clearing and a breeze. The trade-off will be inland temps will start a jump into the 80s with temps into the 90s next week. This is a fast turn around from cool and showery weather.

Winds in the SB county mountains, passes and canyons might be near advisory levels with some sustained wind potential near 30 and higher gusts. We did have a fire today and with wildland fire conditions “moderate” we’ll want to monitor that closely.

North American Fire Danger is an interesting map to look at.. not only do we find moderate local danger but extreme fire danger in the Canadian Rockies. It is so early into the warm months, we’ll…

There is some cold unstable air at higher elevations that could be encouraged to produce some isolated rain/thunderstorms during peak heat over the next few afternoons in the SB county and Ventura county mountains, but with little steering they should stay near their formation areas.

Again, next week a little warmer inland temps next week with a diminishing chance of mountain thunderstorms with the air drying out a bit.
