Firefighters responded to reports of a grass fire near Gaviota early Tuesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire broke out at around noon on the righthand side of northbound Highway 101 near the Highway 1 offramp for Lompoc.
One lane of Highway 101 was closed in the area for a short time. The northbound Highway 1 offramp was expected to remain closed until about 1:15 p.m.
The fire was said to be in the median to the Highway 1 offramp and was quickly put out.
The cause is under investigation.
