A San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputy leaving the California Mid-State Fair was hit head-on in Paso Robles early Monday morning by a man suspected of being under the influence, officials say.

Sheriff’s officials say it happened at about 12:20 a.m. on Riverside Avenue just south of the fairgrounds.

The deputy’s vehicle reportedly sustained some damage to the front push bar but no one was injured.

The Paso Robles Police Department says a 31-year-old man was arrested for DUI. They have not said whether he was injured.

No other information was immediately available.
