Social distancing measures have been put into place at Atascadero State Hospital to help protect patients and staff from contracting COVID-19, a spokesperson told KSBY News on Tuesday.
While the facility in Atascadero is not on lockdown, normal visitation is currently prohibited and patients' regular activities have been modified.
State hospitals in California like ASH have updated their plans for infection control, respiratory protection, and pandemic response, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Hospital employees are also reportedly being screened as they arrive for work and those who do not pass the screening are sent home.
ASH says patients are also being screened for symptoms before entering buildings at the facility.
Court-ordered evaluations, other legal matters and end-of-life care is still taking place.
