Health officials were initially considering using the Champion Center in Lompoc as an alternative care site for COVID-19 patients, but now they say that is no longer happening.
The Lompoc Valley Medical Center says Santa Barbara County officials were also considering using the Champion Center as a location to provide acute in-patient psychiatric care during the pandemic, which is also no longer happening.
The lease of the Champion Center to Crestwood Behavioral Health is moving forward, however.
Crestwood will operate an 80-bed mental health rehabilitation center by the end of this year, creating more than 70 jobs in the community.
