The girls cross country teams from Santa Maria High School and Santa Ynez Valley High School took part in the 2 mile race which the Saints ended up winning.

The friendly competition was held under specific guidelines from CIF, the school district and Santa Barbara County.

"Kids who are used to doing stuff after school every single day are definitely having a tough time because they're not getting to do that except for limited practice," says Brian Wallace, Athletic Director at Santa Maria High School.

Cross country is the first sport to return to competition for now. CIF will soon allow golf, tennis, track and field, and swimming and diving to return later this month. Volleyball, basketball, football and wrestling have unknown return dates for now.
