Santa Barbara County reported an eighth death from COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Health officials say the patient lived in Santa Maria, was in their 60s, and had pre-existing health conditions.

The county also reported eight new confirmed cases of coronavirus, bringing the county's total to 485 as of April 29.

Thirty-three people are currently hospitalized, including 11 patients who are in the ICU. Another 81 people are recovering at home and 360 people have fully recovered.

Health officials announced at a press conference Wednesday that coronavirus testing sites would be set up in various places around the county starting next week. They will be available to all residents but will require an appointment.

The first testing clinic will be located in Santa Maria and will open on May 4. Two additional sites will be opened in Lompoc and Santa Barbara in the coming weeks.

More information on how to schedule an appointment is expected to be released later this week.
