SLO Co. adds 31 new COVID-19 cases

San Luis Obispo County added 31 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the county's total to 3,510 confirmed cases as of September 24.

Seven people are hospitalized, including two patients who are in the ICU.

Another 241 people are recovering at home and 3,231 have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County has had 29 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Breakdown of cases by location:

  • California Men's Colony (inmates) - 292
  • Arroyo Grande - 214
  • Grover Beach - 160
  • Templeton - 127
  • San Miguel - 119

  • Pismo Beach - 64
  • Los Osos - 56
  • Morro Bay - 57
  • Shandon - 43
  • Cambria - 35
  • Santa Margarita - 31
  • Cayucos - 18
  • Creston - 16
  • Cal Poly - 20
  • Avila Beach - 7
  • San Simeon - 6

Another six are listed as "other," which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Public Health Department is not identifying those locations. One other case is listed as under investigation.

COVID-19 tests are currently available to the public in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, and Atascadero.

The pop-up testing clinic in Atascadero will be open Mondays through Thursdays from September 21 to October 1.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, testing will be available to community members in Heritage Ranch at 2130 Heritage Loop Rd. From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Health officials say registration the Heritage Ranch testing location will be done on-site. The testing is free and no identification or insurance will be required.
