Another annual event in San Luis Obispo is canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizers of the SLO Triathlon announced Wednesday the cancelation of the 41st annual event, which includes a half-mile swim, 14-mile bike and more than 3-mile run.

It was scheduled to take place July 26.

"During the COVID-19 emergency, the City's primary focus is on providing essential services to protect the health and safety of the community. Given these factors and the importance of ensuring a safe event for participants, community, volunteers, staff, and sponsors the City has decided to cancel the event for this year."

The event is scheduled to return in 2021, officials said.
